What are we inviting artists to be part of?

LanTive Artist Exchange is being developed to bring visual artists from different countries together to share their work, learn from one another and build connections with local communities. SPECTRUM is the pilot through which we are working toward that goal.

WHY

To connect people through art.

Artists can tell stories that travel beyond language and geography. We want to create opportunities for artists to encounter different perspectives, exchange skills and build relationships that continue beyond an exhibition.

For communities, the aim is access to art and conversations they may not otherwise encounter. SPECTRUM also opens a conversation about cultural awareness and more thoughtful, sustainable travel.

WHAT

An exhibition and cultural exchange pilot.

SPECTRUM is described in our artist call as an awareness and sustainable travel art exhibition. The wider exchange is being developed around sharing visual artwork, artist collaboration and community participation.

Proposed activities include exhibitions, artist conversations, sharing creative practices and community art programming. The final activities and each artist’s responsibilities will be confirmed for the specific location and opportunity.

WHERE

Three connected locations.

Our current coordination connects Flint, Michigan in the United States; Lusaka, Zambia; and Novorossisk, Russia. Flint is proposed as one of the first locations to debut the program.

Launches may happen at the same time in participating locations. Exact venues and travel routes are not yet announced; participation does not automatically mean traveling to all three countries.

WHEN

In development. Artist interest now.

We are currently gathering artist interest and developing partnerships and program arrangements. Confirmed exhibition dates, program length, application deadlines and selection dates have not yet been announced on this website.

Contact your regional representative for the current application process. Please wait for confirmed arrangements before booking travel or committing funds.

WHO

Visual artists and the communities around them.

We welcome interest across painting, murals, installation and other visual disciplines, especially from artists interested in cultural exchange, collaboration and positive community impact.

Charlotte Shinabarger coordinates the United States, Allan Mzyece represents Africa, and Daria Belykh represents Russia. LanTive Art Limited’s leadership includes Allan and President Chaibela Nondo.

Artist questions

Before you apply.

Is this an exhibition, a residency or a travel program?

SPECTRUM is the developing exhibition pilot within the wider LanTive Artist Exchange. The exchange aims to include collaboration and community connection alongside artwork presentation. A fixed residency format, length of stay and travel itinerary have not been announced.

Why should I express interest at this stage?

Expressing interest introduces your practice to the team and lets you discuss how it may fit the developing program. The intended benefits are cultural learning, artist relationships and opportunities to share your work; participation, exposure, sales and future commissions are not guaranteed.

Do I have to travel to all three countries?

No three-country itinerary has been confirmed. Ask your representative which location and participation format your application concerns. International travel depends on confirmed program arrangements and applicable entry requirements.

Are travel, artist fees or accommodation covered?

No package of funding or cost coverage is confirmed on this website. Ask for a written breakdown of what is provided and what you would need to pay before accepting an opportunity or booking travel.

When is the deadline, and how are artists selected?

A confirmed deadline, review schedule and selection criteria have not been published here. Contact your regional representative for current instructions. Submitting materials expresses interest and does not guarantee selection.

Is this only for muralists?

No. We welcome interest from artists in painting, murals, installations and other visual disciplines. The final activities and artwork requirements will depend on the specific opportunity.
